Summer Reading Challenge - 10-14s

Here are all our reads for the 10-14s age group.

We hope you love them as much as we do and they become a firm fav on your shelf!

We've tried our hardest to select books which are part of a series - cos, while it's great to have a favourite, it's also great to read something else once in a while too! (Look for the star)

If you don't have a copy of any of these yet, then click the 10ofthose.com link, get hunting for a second hand copy or get an audiobook version!

Week 1
Week 1
Twelve-year-old Addie Brown wants to fit in. But ever since she and her dad moved from small town America to bustling London, life is as bumpy as the Tube she rides to school. Addie’s cranky neighbour tells her off but then invites her to tea! It seems as if Addie’s best friend in America has already forgotten all about her. Worst of all, Addie’s dad doesn’t seem any happier than before, even though moving across the pond was his crazy idea.
But the biggest mystery Addie encounters is the lady in the green hat. Who is she? And why does she appear on the train when Addie is missing home – and her mom – the most?

Week 2
Week 2
Fifteen-year-old Trey has just moved to England from America. Struggling to fit in with his new life, everything changes when he is extracted to Anasius, an alternate world on the brink of war.
In this new world, Trey and his friends find themselves pulled into a web of torture, betrayal and death. Facing the terrors and traumas of a one-sided war, there appears to be little hope.
When tragedy strikes back home too, the group are forced to put their horror and haunting emptiness aside, and work together to summon the courage to fight – can life be drawn from the crucible of death?

Week 3
Week 3

In Callenlas, dragons carry riders on adventures, and stars are rumoured to live among human beings. Caught up in a war that threatens everything they have ever known, a downtrodden apprentice and a discontented princess find themselves drawn closer and closer to the great King Elior.
Will he prove to be Zaphreth's greatest enemy, or the hero of Runa's legends?

Week 4
Week 4
Even though she’s only 12 years old, Lily McKinley already feels the weight of the world’s brokenness. She’s seen it in her mother’s exhaustion, her grandmother’s illness, and the cruelty of Adam, the bully at her school. But most tragically, she experienced it two months ago when her father died in a terrible accident.
As an artistic daydreamer, Lily has a brilliant imagination to help her cope, but that imagination often gets her into trouble. One day, it transports her to a fantasy world called the Somnium Realm, where her father’s secret history embroils her in an epic quest.

Week 5
Week 5
Courage and a heart for adventure drive twelve-year-old shepherd boy Aidan Errolson. When the bark of the bog owl echoes from the forest across his father’s well-tended pastures, Aidan dreams of wild places still untamed and quests not yet pursued. Aidan’s life changes forever on the day Bayard the Truthspeaker arrives at Longleaf with an astonishing pronouncement: it is Aidan’s destiny to be the Wilderking, who will ascend to the throne from Corenwald’s wildest places. Only the Wilderking can balance his people’s civilizing impulses with the wildness that gives Corenwald its vitality. But not just yet. Many trials and adventures will shape the shaggy-headed shepherd boy into the man who can bring the kingdom back to its former glory.
