Irene Lawson

Irene is married to Jim - for 64 years in 2026! And they have three grown up sons, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson (and another on the way!) And as of 2025 she is no longer an octogenarian!

She was first employed as a tracer in the Survey Department of the National Coal Board in her home town in Fife, Scotland.

She and her then husband-to-be, Jim, spent two years as residential students at the Bible Training College in Glasgow, Scotland.

​

She was officer-in-charge of a joint churches Junior Section of the Boys Brigade and training officer for the Ayrshire region. She set up the Anchor Boys' Section of the Boys' Brigade in the church where she worships in Stockton-on-Tees.

​

After her move to England, she spent many years working as a dressmaker, including a spell when she was in charge of a workroom which made adapted garments for disabled people which at the same time was training for the workers with a view to further employment.  

​

During her 'retired years' she loved going into the local primary schools and taking Christian assemblies and was Chair of Governors for one of the schools.

She now proof reads her church's weekly newsletter (and corrects the spelling mistakes on this site!), enjoys her homegroup and hosts a ladies book Group, all with a cuppa and a biscuit, of course!
